This Matawan NJ maternity session began the moment I met Mary Kate, and I could immediately tell it would be something special. Like many expecting mothers, she arrived feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. It’s completely normal, and something I see often. My goal is always to create a space where those nerves soften quickly and confidence can take their place.

Mary Kate knew she wanted something classic and timeless, but she was also open to more whimsical elements. Together, we selected dresses from the studio wardrobe that reflected both — including one gown with a softer, more ethereal feel.
She gave me creative freedom, which allowed the session to unfold naturally and organically. That trust makes a meaningful difference in the final images.

We began the day with professional hair and makeup, giving her time to settle in and ease into the experience. Starting this way helps create a calm transition into the session and allows clients to feel taken care of before stepping in front of the camera.
The session itself was fully guided. There’s no pressure to know how to pose or what to do — I direct every movement, expression, and angle so the experience feels relaxed and supportive. Although she admitted feeling nervous at first, Mary Kate later shared that she felt comfortable and at ease throughout the session, which is always the greatest compliment.
