Planning for the perfect maternity photo session
Being pregnant is a magical time in any woman’s life, and maternity sessions are a great way to capture the beauty of that time. But when should you book your maternity session? Here are some tips to help you decide when to book your maternity photoshoot.
Timing depends on your preference
The optimal timing for your session will depend mostly on what look you’re going for. If you want that classic “full-term bump” look, then week 35 or 36 is the best time to book your session. This will ensure that your baby bump is really pronounced and that you still have plenty of energy for the shoot! If, however, you’re more interested in capturing more of a “blooming” look, then booking an earlier date in weeks 28–32 would be ideal. During these weeks, the baby bump isn’t too big yet but it’s already starting to show—perfect for capturing those early stages of pregnancy.
When to book your session? When you feel ready
Of course, it is ultimately up to you when you feel ready for your session. Some moms like to book earlier in their pregnancy while others prefer waiting until later on. It really depends on personal preference and how comfortable you feel with your body at that point in your pregnancy journey. Be sure to listen to yourself and do what feels right for you and your family—there is no wrong answer here!
Customizing your session
Everyone’s needs are unique when it comes to customizing their photo session. Whether you are leaning towards an outdoor scene full of lush greenery or a more controlled indoor studio environment, there is something for everyone. You can also think about including your partner and older children in the photos. Taking all these factors into consideration is incredibly important when creating the perfect session for you and your family, as well as ensuring that your vision comes to life during the shoot.
Maternity sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate this special moment in life! Overall, when planning for your maternity session, timing is everything! I recommend booking 6-8 weeks ahead of time so that we have enough time for preparation; however, ultimately wait until it feels right for you and your family before making any final decisions regarding timing or location. With these tips in mind, future mommies can be ready for their perfect maternity photo shoot!
