How to Pose During Your Maternity Photoshoot | Maternity Photographer Central NJ.

Tips from a professional NJ maternity photographer | Central NJ

When I first meet my clients, the first thing they usually say is that they don’t know how to pose. They think they need to be models in order to get great photos, but that’s not the case at all! As a maternity photographer, it’s my job to make future mommies look absolutely stunning and guide them through our session. By the end of our maternity photoshoot, future moms will feel like pros!

1. Placing hands on the belly.

There are a few different maternity poses that I really love. One of my favorites is is when the mom is standing and cradling her belly with her hands. This simple, classic pose captures the belly in all its glory. Future mama can choose to look down at the belly, to the side, or at the camera to create multiple variations. The possibilities are endless!

2. Hand on the back/hip.

Another pose that I love is when the mom-to-be stands with one hand on her hip and the other hand resting on her belly. This pose is classic and elegant, and it really allows your baby bump to shine.

3. Explore your surroundings.

One of the best ways to add more interest to your maternity photos is to incorporate your surroundings. Use the environment to create more flattering poses and interesting compositions. For example, shooting near a body of water can add a calming element to the photos, while using architectural elements like doorways or columns can add a sense of grandeur. So take some time to explore your surroundings before your maternity shoot, and see how you can use the environment to create beautiful photos.

4. Posing together.

One of the most popular maternity poses is the classic side-by-side pose, where both parents face the camera and smile. This is a great option if you want a simple, sweet photo to remember this special time by. However, if your partner is camera shy or you’re looking for something a little more unique, try posing in opposite directions. This way, you can still capture that loving connection while also highlighting your individual personalities.

5. Be creative.

Incorporate some of your favorite props or activities into your maternity shoot. From maternity dresses and flowy skirts to balloons and flowers, there are endless ways to make your maternity photos unique. With a little planning and creativity, you’re sure to end up with maternity photos that you’ll cherish for years to come.
